Kirtland, Ohio

Kirtland is a small city located in Lake County, Ohio, situated about 22 miles east of downtown Cleveland.

Kirtland played a crucial role in the early history of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). In the 1830s, it served as the headquarters of the church and was the site of important events, including the construction of the Kirtland Temple, which is now a National Historic Landmark. Today, the Kirtland Temple is open to visitors and serves as a place of worship and reflection.

The city is also home to several other historic sites related to the early days of the LDS Church, including the Newel K. Whitney Store and the John Johnson Farm. These sites offer insight into the religious and social history of the area.
